Drew's post on his Blog about music made me want to post something about it also so here it goes:
When I was younger I remember my Mom was strictly Christian music whereas Mark Aaron stuck to his roots;Country. Eventually Mom found Delilah which isn't Christian but easy listening and Mark went to Rock&Roll. I don't think I have EVER been into a certain types of music. People often can't believe I like all different music. I don't know how I have learned so many different songs because we have more Christian music than "secular" in our house. Yes,I own a Hilary Duff CD. No,I don't think she is the best singer or actress to ever walk the face of the earth. I watched her movie "Raise Your Voice" and I got a CD that had some of the songs in it from the movie. Which are "Fly","I Am","Someone's Watching Over Me" and "Jericho". On the way home from dance once Mark was listening to some music on a CD and it went like this "Angels wings will cover you tonight". That was all I could remember the next day about the song but I LOVED it. I asked Mark if he could burn me the "Angel" song (That was what I called it because I didn't know it's official name). Luckily he knew what I was talking about!!! Through that CD I have found three of my favorites which are "Anastasia","Beat Inside" and "Angel". These names are ones I just labeled ones, they probably not the official names. Plus One was one I stumbled apon while looking for a good CD to listen to in my Dad's large array of CD's. Yes,they are a boy band. No,I don't listen to them because I think they are cute. I think people shouldn't listen to music just because the person is cute who sings it. Gosh,it makes me annoyed when people say "Ooo he is soo cute;his music is good too". The good music should come first. That is what I think. You aren't quite a youth til you get a Relient K CD,Super Chic(k). Both of which I have. I am not a Relient K crazy like Joe but enough that I like a few of their songs. I like hymns not enough that I love singing them everyday. I used to have to sing them every Sunday;my voice got really sore from the high notes. How on earth do some of those ladies in choir hit such super high notes?!? If you are an expect sometimes you can know who is the "high noter" without even looking to see. No doubt they are some rockin awesome hymns like "Amazing Grace",the whole song sums up the whole life span from sinner to saint. I really like it even more when the person who sings it isn't a "high noter" but a low -medium singer. It can be SO beautiful when you sing it that way. Matthew West's "Thirteen" is one of my new favorites. Just ask my Mom: every time it comes on the radio I scream "This is my favorite song!!!" and crank it up all the way on the computer and keep it that way til it is over. This same thing will happen every time I hear it until I know this one well and find a new one I like a lot. I have Carrie Underwood's CD "Inside Your Heaven". When she sang "Independence Day" I got goose bumps on the crown of my head. That normally means for me a really good singer. Another sign of my enjoyment is taking my knuckles and banging them together happily. I think Dad is where I get my love of music from. My Mom isn't as musically inclined as Dad and I. Dad has a deep baritone singing voice. When we go to a new church and someone normally snaps their neck our way to see where that deepness is coming from it is SO funny. I guess I am just used to it... Ask my Dad how many CD's I have on my Christmas probably twenty or so. I keep adding more and more every day. If I get CD's for Christmas I have just about enough to last me through the year!!!
