The Blessing and Dedication of Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center

This afternoon Dad,Mom,Jamie and I went to the Blessing and Dedication ceremonies at eleven o'clock. The place where they were holding the ceremony stuff was in this big white tent with a ton of chairs and a few fans that were only towards the front. We got there right on time but the only seats left were in the back so that is where we sat. Mom said that the heat index today was 110. Everyone used their hand outs they got to fan themselves. It was very nasteyyyyy hot. The whole thing started out with a lady named Sister Rosemary welcoming everyone. Then four important people remarked about some stuff. That took a very long time!!! Next everyone stood up and sang "Lord of All hopefulness"(I didn't know this song). We stood up some more and did the "Rite of Blessing with Most Reverend Francis. Next we sang another song called "Psalm 93 All the Ends of the Earth,I didn't know that one either. After singing Most Reverend Walter read Matthew 4:23-25 from the Bible. Then they had the Gathering of the Waters. Basically the dumped water from the Jordan River,River Seine (Where St. Francis was born) and some water form the fountains at St.Mary's and more. They took some kind of plant and dipped it in all the water and, then took it out and flinged it out behind him. I am not Catholic so some of the stuff they did during the ceremony seemed odd to me. I think we prayed about five times after that. After all that Sister Rosemary came back and declared the dedication. At the end we sand "Ode to Joy". That song a DEFINITELY knew. Then we went out of the tent to watch them pour the water into the fountain and start it up. By now I was sweating a lot. Dad,Mom,Jamie and I went into the hospital for a tour in the lovely AC. When I walked into St.Francis it didn't even look like a hospital. They have marble counter tops, marble floors, really comfy chairs, water cascading down the entry, flat screen tvs in every room,Egyptian bathrobes and slippers in each bathroom with a shower in it. The whole hospital could be a resort if it wanted to!!! It was all so wicked awesome. After about thirty minutes of looking around Jamie and I's tummy were grumbling so we went to have some food they had there. On the paper they said "light refreshments". Well.. I didn't think they were "light" at all. They had crab dip, chicken balls, meat balls,a unleavened bread type bread, vegetables, cookies, puff balls, little miniature cakes and a lot more. It was SOOO good!!! After about fifteen or so minutes we went home.
